Find the small hole that houses the backup or emergency key for ignition made of metal. Insert the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into this slot and gently open the rear of the fob for the key. After you have opened the fob, you can locate and remove the CR 2032 3V battery. Install a new battery in its spot and put the fob back together.
Note: Certain older Volvo models use a different type of battery that is called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of a millimeter thinner than a CR2032 battery, so you must be cautious about the placement of your replacement.
